Newsletter April 2004 Thursday, Feb 18, 2010
From Narain V. Hingorani, AIS President We at Sindhulogy make certain that the opinions expressed by all visitors to our website are reviewed carefully. A healthy critique of our efforts is essential for our on-going success to reach out to ever expanding number of readers. In recent weeks, a number of our visitors have lauded our trail blazing program of distributing "Return of the Aryans" and addressing letters to USA academic libraries to purchase this historic epic book. Many of you have been generous to consider our initiative and excellent example worthy of AWARD from NRI community. At the same time some of the comments on the Guest Book have expressed concerns at the "slackening on part of AIS" in recent months. BOOK DISTRIBUTION For the success of book distribution or for that matter of any effort to reach out to more people, the help from our readers is essential. In the NewsLetter of January 2004 the visitors were appealed to write supporting letter to the libraries in your areas. Please visit link LIBRARY PROJECT, which has list of libraries provided with books and also those whom letters have been sent. Since publication of last newsletter we have prepared a list of about 600 more libraries. We will Email the letters to these libraries and update the table on our website very soon. With this addition we will have completed 36 out of 50 USA. AIS plans to complete the program of addressing USA academic libraries before end of May. It has been heartening to see that Mr. Gobind Jhangiani editor sindhi-net, London (www.sindhi-net.com) has raised funds to purchase copies of Return of the Aryans for distribution to the libraries in U.K. This reflects that mission of AIS is gaining momentum. We hope many more will follow our initiative and example and participate in propagating the awareness and distribution of this great book We may restate that our organization is run by handful of volunteers who spend many hours on various tasks including collecting library information and data entry, with no financial compensation what so ever for their efforts. Often times we spend our own resources for the day-to-day operation. Our reward is the continued dialog with visitors and the continuity of the forum where discussion never ends on how to reach out to more people to create awareness of the civilization that we represent. The Book Distribution must rely on donations. We have received many pledges of donations to continue this program but unfortunately most of such pledges have not been fulfilled. Therefore we have no alternative but to hope and expect that those visitors who feel somewhat "let down" by our efforts would help our cause by recommending their favorite libraries to purchase the book. We are not discouraged when it is pointed out that our efforts are not 'enough' and that we ought to do more. Certainly we all like to do our maximum but are limited by resources both human and financial resources. It will be great help if visitors' comments could also include suggestions as to the financial means in support of the rather expensive undertaking of acquiring and distributing ever more copies of the book. OTHER IMPORTANT PROGRAMS Book Distribution is a very important program, which we will continue as best as we can. Nonetheless there are various other equally significant programs that AIS is currently engaged in continuing efforts for promoting awareness of Indus Saraswati Civilizations. AIS already detailed in our NewsLetter of January 2004 we continue to be in contact with many public agencies to use their support to spread the word of our mission. These include School boards across the country, teachers organizations and of course the Field Museum in Chicago. We will in the near future also approach other Museums. During his winter vacation, in Paris Dr. Faqir Vohra, AIS Director for Education and Research contacted UNESCO for entering into some permanent relationship with the organization. In the meeting with the person concerned it was pointed out to him that such a relationship is possible only with International or Regional organizations covering many countries. However, he met with Mme Guerreiro, Rosa Maria, Division for Intercultural Dialogue and Cultural Policies who is specifically in charge of Intercultural and Inter-religious Dialogue Programs. She was much impressed with our School Project aimed at encouraging peace and tolerance in a multiethnic society through awareness and understanding of its diverse of cultures. She invited us to submit some comprehensive project/programs/activities to which full attention will be paid. Dr Vohra also met Mr. Brian Aggeler, Chargé d'Affaires US Mission to UNESCO. He showed great interest in our work and promised to support our request for cooperation / collaboration with UNESCO. CONCLUSION AIS thanks all well-wishers for their continued support and best wishes for our innovative and unique programs and will continue its honest endeavors to be worthy of your confidence in our mission of promoting awareness of Indus Saraswati civilizations. With patience and perseverance we will achieve our dream.
