AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF SINDHULOGY Newsletter, December 29 ,2007
   Dear AIS Supporters
AIS is engaged in promoting educational program of Ancient history, culture and civilization of (a) sub continent of India. The programs have been very warmly received and appreciated. The details can be read in the report of May 2007 (Seven years performance of AIS) on our web site. Themes 7 and 8 are now posted on the web site. DVD (courtesy - Japan broadcasting corporation and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum) produce August 2000 at the inauguration of INDUS EXHIBITION IN JAPAN can be viewed on the web site. AIS plans to expand its activities in furtherance of its mission to reach out the mainstream in the USA and around the globe. AIS board members met with the Directors of the American Jewish Committee www. American Jewish Committee.org in Chicago on October 23, 2007 to discuss common cultural interests between India and Israel. We mentioned about a possible Cultural Research Center in Skokie which would focus, promote and connect world cultures and civilizations. AIS have contacted the Under Secretary of State Department, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (see link below) to participate and assist their program of Cultural diplomacy. The Bureau commended AIS mission and programs. AIS have put up a proposal to work on a global artist exchange program.

The AIS board directors also looked into the possibilities of establishing a permanent Museum in Illinois or any other state in the USA. AIS consider the Village of Skokie as an ideal possible location in view of the fact that a museum dedicated to this concept does not exist either in the United States or abroad. We are proposing an excellent quality, self-standing museum dedicated to India's incredibly rich heritage, history, and culture. For this reason, we are proposing to develop an unparalleled museum with a grand opening featuring a major exhibit of the Indus River Civilization of which the goal will be to maintain a smaller permanent exhibit featuring the Indus River Civilization. To make this a successful endeavor will require that the project be inclusive from the start embracing all the representatives of the Indian communities in the United States, Canada, India, Pakistan, as well as Great Britain. The United States is a perfect choice as it enables representatives from diverse groups both in India and Pakistan as well as abroad to come together in a new, non-judgmental environment. This precedent for success has been followed by more than a few cultures over the past hundred years.

  1. There are a large number of Europeans, Asians, Indians and people from around the world who reside in Skokie.
  2. The Village of Skokie provided land to install the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the apostle of truth, peace and non-violence. The Ancient (Sindhu) Indus civilization preached the same philosophy 7000 years back.
  3. The museum location would be close to Mahatma Gandhi's statue and would provide easy access to two monuments of peace.
  4. The museum would display a replica of the 838 images with detailed explanations of Indus Civilization.
  5. Provide fully equipped libraries with books on all the cultures of human kind and globally connect humanity through cultures.
  6. Invite research scholars to undertake research work on the premises on some of the following subjects
AIS's strategy is to connect with media, Federal and Local Government and the main stream public in the USA to advance its mission and message. For seven years, the founding directors have dedicated their time and energies to the cause with all their resources. AIS needs $200000.00 to pursue its goals and to ensure Continuity of the above projects AIS desire and plan to engage the services of public relation corporation to assist us in all above projects to connect us with American Media. Message and mission of AIS must reach the chambers on the Capital Hill and the heart of the mainstream public Your moral support has been a source of encouragement to AIS directors. Guest book messages are proof of our statement. AIS needs your donation support to pursue its mission and programs. The donations are tax deductible in the USA and India. AIS is a non profit, non religious and non political institute.
